This standard establishes the measures of the containers for use in contact with food. Over time it became internationalized and is currently the measure par excellence in hospitality.
Nowadays they are one of the most requested products of our own manufacture from Pujadas.
The great advantage of working with standardized measures is that of having a range of containers, which can be combined with each other, that adapt to a multitude of peripherals that we have in professional kitchens, such as ovens, buffet displays, display cabinets, trolleys, among many others. In this sense, a multitude of different containers are not required depending on the activity we carry out. With them we can cook, store, transport and present without having to change the container.
The Gastronorm buckets that we find in the market, can be mainly manufactured in:
Stainless steel. This material allows Gastronorm trays to be used for all food preparation and transformation processes in a professional kitchen. They make them ideal for use in ovens (cooking) and refrigerators (storage). The only restriction that this material presents is the use in microwaves.
They can even be used in gas or electric cookers, as long as they are equipped with a heat-diffusing bottom, like the ones we have patented in Pujadas:
Polycarbonate is a transparent material used for cold room storage or cold buffet presentation. Withstands temperatures between -40º and + 130º
Polypropylene is translucent for refrigerator storage. Given its greater resistance to heat (-40º to + 110º) it is also used for transport and microwave cooking.
Copolyester without bisphenol. We manufacture this BPA-free material as an alternative to polycarbonate, resistant to temperatures from -40º to + 90º
And melamine, the newest material and with which hotels and restaurants have won a more durable solution with spectacular finishes. A product derived from a plastic, with which we can work at temperatures from -20º to + 70º.
